I qualified with an Undergraduate Degree in Sports Psychology in 2014 and went on to complete my Honours Degree in Biokinetics in 2015, during my honours year I was a contributing author to an article published November 2016, “Anthropometric and cardiovascular responses to hypertrophic resistance training in postmenopausal women”. I completed my Internship in 2016 in Roodepoort at Lara Leech Biokinetics where I gained vast experience in Orthopedic and Chronic illness rehabilitation. I then took a leap of faith and opened my own practice in 2017 and have been running since with great success.
I have also completed a course in Sports Massages, Sports Conditioning and Strapping. I am a Member of BASA (Biokinetics Association of South Africa) and HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa).

For the past three and a half years Shannon has treated me for Scoliosis. My husband has advanced Parkinsons Disease and for the first two years Shannon would come to our house on a regular basis and treat both of us. We have found her to be extremely reliable, professional and helpful! She goes the proverbial “extra mile” to help us obtain various aids to help us between visits I.e. balls, straps and tape! Shannon now operates from her own Practice and it is always well equipped and she is always punctual. What impressed us most of all is her knowledge and she explains what she is doing and why she is doing it! Shannon has improved the pain in my back so much …. when I am not able to see her due to travelling I honestly can feel that I am missing the comfort and relief she gives me!

I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis 6 years ago. Part of the pain management program was to go to physiotherapy and start seeing a Biokineticist. I did not feel any huge relief from the various Biokineticists that I went to. I started going to see Shannon McIntyre almost three years ago. I am so impressed with her dedication to help me control to some degree the pain. Shannon has worked out a exercise regime for me to follow on a daily basis, so that I am able to move around with less pain. I am so fortunate to have started seeing Shannon, and have no hesitation in recommending her expertise to anyone who is in need of seeing a Bio.

After years of suffering in pain and being given incorrect exercise regimes for my health conditions, Shannon took on the challenge to help me with my Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
I can honestly say that my life changed the day I met her. Her patience, perseverance and professional knowledge not only helped me find exercise that didn’t hurt me, but strengthened my body to support itself and minimise my chronic pain.
Shannon is a life saver!
